The Beginning of the Story
My fifth grade teacher held a writing contest for our class. I wrote a story called, The Mixed-Up Library. In this tale, the students visiting the library find something very strange: the words in the books are out of order! The pages had sentences like, "sheep blue the jumped bashful over dusty fence the." The students do some detective work and learn that after the library closes for the night, the words inside the books come out to mingle.
A close call with a forgetful janitor prompts the words to jump back into the books so quickly, they land in the wrong place on the page.
The kids in my class laughed and my story was the contest winner. Today I am still writing stories and I work in the children's department of the public library. I do a spot check each morning to be sure the words inside our books are in their proper places.
Meet the Character
It's a bird, it's a plane,
it's JUNGLE ANNIE! In my own superhero kind of way, I visit preschool classrooms and teach science to young children. We have lots of fun learning about animals, magnets, dinosaurs, planets and everything else under (and including) the sun.
